This is the best edition of A Guide to True Peace

This is by far the best edition of A Guide to True Peace because it stays with one of the earliest texts, it doesn't have annoying library stamps (such as this edition: Method Attaining Inward Spiritual Prayer ), it has been reset (so it has clearly printed text unlike the edition I just gave the url for, which looks like a book xeroxed at 200% zoom), and it has an awesome introduction by Jim F. Wilson "Syllabic Jim". My curiosity was initially piqued about A Guide to True Peace by Jim via talks he has given at a spiritual book store. Then it was his excellent reviews of other previous editions that led me to purchase the Nabu edition in the above url that has sailboats on the cover, but this edition if far superior and I wish for it to be recognized for it's valuable assets. Jim's introduction is foremost among it's valuable assets because he has delved into the history of this book and wonderfully situates it in history and in the movements flowing through Christianity that lead to its publishing.
As for the book itself, here is a sample of why I recommend it to people. At one point it quotes Isaiah 13:12 "I will make a man more precious than fine gold" and goes on to discuss the burning and purifying necessary to experience "quietness and serenity" and "joyful simplicity, heavenly indifferency, continual prayer, a total nakedness, perfect disinterestedness, a conversation of heaven". And at one point the authors and compilers encourage us, saying "Let all, then, press forward towards the mark, suffering themselves to be guided and governed by the spirit of grace". I love phrases such as these because they seem to reference an older, more traditional, understanding of sin. This would be the idea that sin is simply 'missing the mark'. So cheers to pressing forward towards the mark, and may people drink deeply of this great little book.
